Malaga airport is situated just off the A7 Autovía de la Costa del Sol on the outskirts of the capital, only 8kms from the Malaga city centre.

From the airport, the N-340 leads to Fuengirola (south-west of the airport) and Málaga (north-east of the airport). Once in Málaga, the N-331 leads north to Córdoba. The airport is also accessible from the E-15 motorway, which leads to the towns of the Costa del Sol.

At present the airport has two terminals, T1 and T2. Terminals 1 and 2 are in adjoining buildings and are connected internally.

A third terminal is under construction and there are plans to construct a second runway for 2010.

Car Parking
Car parks are available outside both terminals; both offer short-term parking. Both covered and outdoor parking is available in the car park outside Terminal 2. Long-term car parking (i.e for more than four days) is available at the Terminal 1 car park (tel: 9520 48849). There is a free car park adjacent to the suburban railway station.
 
Car Hire
Car hire companies which are represented at the airport include Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National Atesa-Álamo, with desks in both terminals. Other local operators are also represented.
 
Rail
There are local trains (tel: 952 128 267; website: www.renfe.es) to Málaga and Fuengirola. The station is located opposite Terminal 2.  

Bus
 
There are two types of buses from Malaga, public transport and private shuttle buses.

If you are travelling to one of the resorts close to Malaga Airport it might be better to pre book a shared shuttle bus via Shuttle Direct

From Malaga City Bus Station there are new direct express buses to Malaga and Marbella. Portillo (tel: 902 143 144; website: www.ctsa-portillo.com) provides services to and from Marbella and other popular destinations.

You will find the stop for both buses as you exit the main Terminal 2 arrivals hall via the right hand doors. As you leave the public area of the arrivals hall turn right and walk for approximately 50 metres to the bus stop.

There is also a bus stop for the C19 bus outside Terminal 1 arrivals. Bus 19 (tel: 902 527 200; website: www.emtmalaga.es) connects the airport with central Málaga.

The first route (Line 19) heads into Malaga City centre and takes around 20 minutes. Once you are at the main bus terminal in Malaga City you will find buses to all parts of the Costa Del Sol. You can obtain more details at www.estabus.emtsam.es
