Things to Do
Marbella and its neighbouring towns have a large number
of attractions, which appeal to visitors of all ages. If
you want to stay in the area why not visit one of the city’s
parks or enjoy the selection of museums and art galleries
that Marbella has to offer. Nearby there is Sea Life in
Benalmadena or why not go and see Crocodile Park in Malaga.
Beaches
With 27 km of coastline and 24 different beaches to choose
from Marbella has something for everyone. They stretch
from San Pedro de Alcántara (west) to Calahonda (east). Most of
the beaches are naturally formed from soft golden sand,
some are grey and man-made. If you are into
jet-ski-ing, sailing, star-spotting, balloon flights, cable
ski-ing or simply enjoying some of the best fresh seafood in
the world you'll find it all at Marbella's seafront.
Funny beach
Action and fun is what funny beach is about! Here there is
entertainment for all the family and offer trampolines,
go-karts, mini-motorbikes, water skiing, jet skis and much
more.
Guadalmina Beach
This beach is situated near the centre of San Pedro
Alcantara and is popular with sports enthusiasts. Here you can
enjoy water sports such as windsurfing, jet skis, surfing and
pedlos.
El Ancon Beach
El Ancon is a quieter beach with attractive scenery. There
are watch towers and life guards plus two beach bars should you
get thirsty.
Museums
Marbella does offer a modest selection of museums and art
galleries which cover an interesting selection of themes and
genres. The Contemporary Spanish Print Museum (Museo del
Grabado Español Contemporáneo) is home to works by popular
Spanish artists such as Picasso, Chillida, Miró and Tápies, and
the facility offers guided tours from Tuesday to
Friday. At La Casa Grande, you’ll find an impressive
selection of paintings, crafts and sculptures as well as the
world’s largest collection of Byzantine art. The Galería
Municipal de Exposiciones is a facility offering works by both
Spanish and international artists, many of repute and others
up-and-coming.
Funny Beach
Located in the heart of the town, just 300 metres from
Marbella's Arch, Funny Beach is a theme park with a wide
variety of attractions aimed at visitors of all ages. For
Toddlers there are various small rides. For
kids, there are trampolines, mini-motorbikes, and bumper
boats. Adults have the option of mini golf, waterskiing,
jet-skiing and a banana boat. Motorboats plus guides are
also available for hire for trips around the coast.
Crocodile Park
It is just a 30-minute drive away from the centre of
Marbella, Crocodile Park is home to a large selection of the
fearsome reptiles, with some specimens weighing in at over 450
kilos, some are more than 60 years of age. Visitors
get the chance to see crocodiles in various stages of
growth, from incubated eggs to the oldest crocodile.
The highlight of the day’s proceedings at the centre is feeding
time, when these awesome creatures get to dine on live prey –
not for the faint-hearted!
Markets
Marbella market takes place every Monday at the Recinto
Ferial (Zona de Las Albarizas). There are also two flea
markets in town on Saturday; one at Nueva Andalucía (Centro
Plaza), the other at Puerto Banús, next to the bull
ring.
Mijas Park
Situated on the main road that leads to Fuengirola, Mijas
Park is a water-based theme park which is aimed
at families and young holidaymakers. This
park features plenty to keep visitors occupied for a
full day. The park has many
attractions,they include Adventure River, Body Ski,
Labyrinth Slides, Lizard's Island, Kamikaze Slides, Wave
Pool and Wild River. Aqua aerobics is also conducted daily
at no extra cost to visitors. An on-site self-service
restaurant takes care of visitors at meal times and the
picnic area can be used by those preferring to bring their own
food.
